For some of us, there’s nothing more exciting than bringing images to life. If that’s you, MTSU’s B.S. in Animation degree is the launchpad for your future. It’s one of the most comprehensive, and longest running animation programs in the world. The program covers 3D character animation, motion graphics, and visual effects. Emphasis is on digital, with a heathy dose of traditional techniques.

A broad range of careers is available in Animation. Learn how your interests and talents can be developed into a career that’s just right for you. Our four-year degree gives students the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to launch their careers, and theoretical and historical understanding for long-term success. Our goal is to help you discover the best version of your future self.

Animation students benefit from hands-on learning, our outstanding faculty, up-to-date curriculum, and amazing facilities that includes well-equipped animation labs, a render farm, a stop-motion lab, an equipment checkout system, an immersive storytelling lab for VR, AR, and more. 

Our student learning experiences go well beyond traditional classrooms. We have one of only 15 student chapters of ACM SIGGRAPH, the leading trade association for computer graphics and interactive techniques. A large group of our students and faculty travel to the international SIGGRAPH conference each summer where they get to meet and learn from industry leaders. Participation in international animation competitions, a varsity team for esports, and classes that travel abroad are additional examples of opportunities available for Animation majors.
