MTSU students and faculty collaborate on superhero web series
Six years ago Media Arts Associate Professor Allie Sultan and MFA student Sarah Michele Bailey started a massive collaboration with over 30 students from programs across MTSU’s College of Media and Entertainment, including Video and Film Production, Animation, Audio Production, and Visual Communication. Flash forward to 2021 and season one of Incognita’s Infamous Adventures is done – and doing well in the festival circuit.
Incognita won Best Web Series at the Orlando Film Festival, and is an official selection of the Stareable Film Fest, “the industry’s premier annual indie TV and web series festival in the US and the new home for digital creative talent in the TV industry.”
The project is a great blend of 15 original songs by the show’s creator and star, Sarah Bailey, with filmmaking directed, co-produced, and edited by Prof. Allie Sultan – along with huge contributions from other faculty and students.
Prof. Sultan says “It truly is a huge accomplishment for our students, many of them were students of color, women, and LGBTQ+ students who otherwise have fewer opportunities to get their foot in the door in this industry. Many of our students who worked on this show over the years have gone on to start amazing careers in the industry.”
The filmmakers are planning a premiere screening at MTSU for Scholars Week, March 21-25, 2022.
