Dr. Dennis Oneal wins TAB’s Distinguished Service Award
Recent EMC retiree, Dr. Dennis Oneal has just become part of a select group within the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters with a special recognition.
The association’s highest honor, their Distinguished Service Award was presented to Dr. Oneal during the 67th annual conference in Murfreesboro recently. The award was established in 1974 to honor men and women who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to their communities and the broadcast industry.TAB Chairman, Dan Barron with Entercom Communications in Memphis said, “An educator like Dennis Oneal is the lifeblood of our industry. For a well trained and experienced, next generation staff to keep up the great work being done by the 5,000-plus Tennesseans in our business, we must rely on the dedication and interest of people like Dennis Oneal.
As a tenured professor with MTSU since 1983, Oneal has given over three decades of his life to higher education and all aspects of broadcasting for the betterment of the University and his community. The TAB and our past DSA recipients are pleased to recognize his contributions with this award.”
In addition to his University service, Dr. Oneal has been a radio station owner/operator, a multimedia content producer as well as the EMC Department Chair. He has been on the air as well as behind the scenes consulting and advising many of the University’s award winning productions. He has taught and volunteered at all levels of education, government and community service.
