Aerial Videography and Cinematography Courses Coming to MTSU

The Media Arts Department is excited to announce the launch of Aerial Videography and Aerial Cinematography courses starting with Aerial Videography in Spring 2019. Currently there is nothing similar to these offerings at any other university in the Southeast. The courses will be taught in collaboration with MTSU’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program and are open to a limited number of Video and Film Production majors and Unmanned Aircraft Systems majors.

The courses were developed by Video and Film Professor Marie Elliott and Professor Kevin Corns of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems faculty. The spring section of Aerial Videography will be taught by Professor Corns and Professor Paul Chilsen of the Video and Film faculty.

Professor Elliott says she is excited about the new courses because drone footage has brought such great new creative and aesthetic capabilities to storytelling. She believes these new skills will help students become more competitive in today’s jobs market.
